The Nutriment Company (TNC) has acquired Zoo Factory, a Polish distributor of “premium” pet treats and pet food.

The companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.

Zoo Factory has been active for more than 25 years and produces and distributes around 250 pet-care items.

Its range includes products under the Hilton and Animals brands, alongside a private-label business.

It is Sweden-based TNC’s tenth acquisition this year and comes shortly after the purchase of Dutch pet treat manufacturer Antos, which was announced last week. Founded more than 30 years ago, Antos operates a logistics facility in the Netherlands, which TNC plans to use as a “strategic hub” for the Benelux market.

The acquisition of Zoo Factory gives TNC its first foothold in the Polish pet food market.

Anders Kristiansen, the CEO of TNC, said: “Entering Poland is a major milestone for us - and a powerful way to close an exceptional year of growth.

“Together, we are well positioned to build a leading role in one of Europe’s most dynamic pet markets.”

In a statement issued yesterday (22 December), TNC said it expects the deal to support the expansion of its products into pet supply chains, independent retailers and new omnichannel sales routes.

The company added Zoo Factory’s “strong position” in the grocery sector creates “immediate scalability” for its entire product portfolio.

Under the terms of the deal, Zoo Factory’s existing management will remain in place. Managing director Sławomir Musur and purchasing director Beata Bonalska will continue to lead the company.

The initial stage of integration will concentrate on rolling out TNC’s wider product range, starting with supplements.

The company said within the first monthcustomers will be able to access its “best-selling” supplement products.

TNC took over French fresh pet-food company Easy-Barf in October.

In July, the business snapped up UK-based cat-food supplier Purrform, adding a “new dimension of species-specific expertise to its brand portfolio”.

TNC’s other acquisitions earlier in the year included the purchase of Graf Barf, a German private-label pet-food business and Bulmer Pet Foods.
