Unilever has struck an agreement to acquire US nutritional supplements company Grüns.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The purchase marks Unilever’s first acquisition since the group last month agreed to combine its food operations with spice producer McCormick. The deal valued the Knorr owner’s food division at roughly $44.8bn.
In announcing the move for Grüns, the UK-based consumer goods company described the transaction as “another step in optimising Unilever’s portfolio towards premium and high growth spaces, with a stronger focus on beauty and wellbeing and the US market”.
Unilever has acquired a number of vitamins and supplements businesses during the last decade.
Gummy supplements business Grüns was established in 2023 by Chad Janis and was valued at $500m during a Series B round in 2025, according to its adviser on the funding.
In the US, Grüns supplements are sold directly to consumers and through mainstream retailers including Amazon, Target, Walmart and Costco.
Jostein Solheim, the CEO of Unilever's Wellbeing unit, said: “As a leader and true innovator in the Greens Supplement category, what sets Grüns apart is its focused portfolio of science-backed products that people genuinely enjoy, trust, and consistently use.”
In a LinkedIn post, Janis said Grüns had exceeded $300m in revenue by its second anniversary, was shipping ten million gummies each day.
Janis added: “With Unilever behind us, we can reach more people, move faster, and continue raising the bar on what an enjoyable daily wellness habit can be.”
Janis will stay on as chief executive following the completion of the acquisition, with the business continuing to trade as Grüns under Unilever's ownership.
Unilever is home to supplement brands including Olly, SmartyPants and Onnit.
The company has also made minority investments in businesses in the sector through its Unilever Ventures arm.
