US nuts supplier Star Snacks is to build a new facility in the state of Georgia.

The New Jersey-based business said on Monday (3 April) it is to set up a 200,000-square-foot facility in Macon-Bibb County to source, roast and distribute peanuts grown in the state

Star Snacks is investing US$18m in the project. It said the move would create 115 jobs.

The company manufactures and distribute nuts, trail mixes and dried fruits. It markets products under the Star Snacks, Imperial and Platinum Nuts brands.

Star Snacks is also a co-packer and a private-label supplier.

Earlier today, another US nuts business, Kar Nut Products Co., announced it had secured investment from local private-equity firm Palladium Equity Partners.

Palladium said “one of its affiliated private equity funds has made a significant investment in partnership with the owner” of Kar’s, which markets trail mix under its namesake and Second Nature brands. Terms were undisclosed and officials representing Kar’s did not return a request for further comment.
