The company said the new cereal, which will reach store shelves this month, is a good source of protein, calcium and iron, as well as fibre. Kellogg said it now has 50 cereal products in its portfolio that contain whole grain and/or fibre.

“The new 2005 Dietary Guidelines call for increased consumption of whole-grain and nutrient-rich foods and also identify calcium and fibre, among other vitamins and minerals, as ‘nutrients of concern’ for children,” said Chris Lowry, Kellogg’s vice president of global nutrition.
