Private-equity backed MBC Companies has acquired US-based frozen pizza maker Alpha Foods.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Frozen food manufacturer MBC said in a statement the acquisition of the Waller, Texas-based business expands its production capabilities and “accelerates product innovation”.
Acquired by US-based Entrepreneurial Equity Partners in 2023, MBC added the deal “strengthens its ability to serve customers coast-to-coast across multiple channels”.
Established in 1984 by Greek immigrants George and Athena Sarandos, Alpha Foods has evolved from a regional foodservice distributor into a nationwide manufacturer of frozen pizzas.
The family-owned business also supplies retail and institutions such as K-12 schools, along with consumer packaged foods producers across the US.
Alpha Foods is MBC’s second acquisition in the pizza sector this year after its purchase of Nardone Brothers Baking in January.

Athena Sarandos, a co-founder of Alpha Foods, added: “While many firms wanted to buy our company, the best path forward was to combine with a company that shares our values, understands our business, and protects what our people have built. I believe that with MBC, we have found a perfect match.”
MBC has production facilities in Lebanon and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
The company was created following the acquisitions of Murry’s in 2019 and Bake Crafters in 2022.
Murry’s is a manufacturer of frozen French toast products that are sold into the private-label retail and foodservice channels. Bake Crafters manufactures and distributes breakfast and baked products supplying the out-of-home sector.
