Kraft Foods International announced yesterday that it has acquired the remaining shares of Oy Estrella Ab, a Finnish snack company, from Paulig Ltd, which previously held a 50% stake in the company. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

This acquisition further solidifies Kraft Foods International as the largest salty snacks producer in the Nordic area with well-known potato chip brands Estrella and Maarud.

“Salty snacks is a growing category for Kraft Foods and it made sense to consolidate our different Estrella businesses in the Nordic area,” said Stefan Granlund, Director Snacks Category, Kraft Foods Nordic. “We have benefited greatly from our partnership with Paulig and we are excited about the prospect of further growing this business,” added Arne Jurbrant, Area Director Kraft Foods Nordic.

Oy Estrella Ab employs approximately 90 people and maintains a manufacturing facility in Dagsmark, Finland.
