Northern Foods will delay its decision on which location will be chosen for a new ‘super site’ for its Fox’s biscuit brand until early next year.


A decision was expected this month but Fox’s management have said that “due to the current economic climate”, it does not want to make a decision on a new super site for at least another year.


Two sites are being considered – Uttoxeter in Staffordshire and Baxley, Yorkshire.


Last month, staff at Fox’s Uttoxeter plant demonstrated their desire for the contract by marching though the streets.


Claire Boot, Unite convenor, said: “Initially, workers felt very let down by the decision. It means another year of anxiety and uncertainty, which is a poor reward for a dedicated workforce.
