UK-based ready meals firm Charlie Bigham’s has appointed Georgina Wood to the newly-created role of head of food.

Wood, who will join the company on Monday (31 October) will work with the company’s owner Charlie Bigham on product development.

She previously served as head of food at foodservice chain Eat and she is director of UK-based independent sandwich chain Pardoe & Wood.

Charlie Bigham’s was founded in 1996. Products include cottage pie, lasagne, fish pie, sweet and sour chicken and steak & mushroom pies and are available from retailers Waitrose and Ocado. 

The company reported sales of GBP24m (US$38.4m) in the year to the end of August, up from GBP20m in 2010.
