Personal Care and Service Occupations drive consumer industry hiring activity
Personal Care and Service Occupations, with a share of 13% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the North American consumer industry in Q2 2024 , ahead of Sales and Related Occupations with a 13% share of new job postings.
The other prominent roles included Management Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Production Occupations with a 9% share and Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with an 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies accounted for 27% of hiring activity
The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 27% of the overall hiring activity in the North American consumer industry in Q2 2024.
Great Clips posted 12,021 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a growth of 33% over the previous quarter, followed by Petco Health and Wellness with 8,525 jobs and a 15% growth. Core-Mark Holding, with 4,502 jobs, and Tyson Foods, with 4,226 jobs, recorded a 29% rise and a 4% rise, respectively, while PepsiCo recorded a 12% increase with a 4,040 new job postings during Q2 2024.

The US held the leading share of the North American consumer hiring activity with a 92.86% share, an 8% increase over Q1 2024. Canada was next with 3.75%, four-percentage-point up over the previous quarter.
