Notably, Production Occupations jobs accounted for a 15% share of the global consumer industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q2 2023, down 6% over the prior quarter.

Production Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Production Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 6% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 2% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Sales and Related Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 32% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Panera Bread, Tyson Foods, Pizza Hut, MOD Super Fast Pizza Holdings, and Potbelly. Together they accounted for a combined share of 32% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the consumer industry.

Panera Bread posted 5,137 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Tyson Foods 3,730 jobs, Pizza Hut 2,628 jobs, MOD Super Fast Pizza Holdings 1,230 jobs, and Potbelly 1,157 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 75.96% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 75.96% followed by the UK (4.41%) and Canada (3.11%). The share represented by the US was six percentage points higher than the 70.31% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
