Management Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 10%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings drop by 8% quarter-on-quarter. Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q1 2023, with new job postings dropping by 0.64% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 9% share in Q1 2023, Production Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 17% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Rich Products, International Flavors & Fragrances, J. R. Simplot, Colgate-Palmolive, and PepsiCo. Together they accounted for a combined share of 17% of all future of work-related new jobs in the consumer industry.

Rich Products posted 829 future of work-related new jobs in Q1 2023, International Flavors & Fragrances 545 jobs, J. R. Simplot 374 jobs, Colgate-Palmolive 349 jobs, and PepsiCo 310 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 66.43% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 66.43% followed by India (4.39%) and Canada (2.80%). The share represented by the US was three percentage points higher than the 63.42% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
