The top five companies accounted for 31% of patenting activity

Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that LG filed the most robotics patents within the consumer industry in Q4 2023. The company filed 43 robotics-related patents in the quarter, compared with 72 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Samsung Group with 18 robotics patent filings, Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (17 filings), and iRobot (16 filings) in Q4 2023.

Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 32% share of total patent filings

The largest share of robotics related patent filings in the consumer industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 32%, followed by China (16%) and Japan (4%). The share represented by the US was 15% higher than the 18% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
