Europe extended its dominance in the hiring of jobs related to the Internet of Things (IoT) among food manufacturers in the final three months of 2021, according to analysis by GlobalData.

The number of roles in Europe made up 52.1% of total IoT jobs – up from 22.4 per cent in the same quarter in 2020.

The figures are compiled by GlobalData, which tracks the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

Which countries are seeing the most growth in IoT job ads in the food industry?

The fastest growing country was France, which accounted for 1.5% of all IoT job adverts in the three months ending December 2020, a figure that increased to 38.8% in the final quarter of 2021.

That was followed by Canada (up 2.5 percentage points), the United Kingdom (up -0.9), and Mexico (up -1.2).

Which cities are the biggest hubs for IoT workers in the food industry?

Some 30.6% of all food industry IoT roles were advertised in Suresnes in France in the three months ending December – more than any other city.

St. Louis in the US also advertised 30.6% of IoT jobs, followed by Plaisir in France (with 7.4%) and Bengaluru in India with 4.1 per cent.
