orange jelly]. The pack features the Disney film of Pooh Bear. The fruit jelly
is made with fruit juice and contains large chunks of fruit. There is also a

Tart Mix
Snow Brand Milk Prod.: Snow Brand Blueberry Cheese Tart Mix. This no-bake
mix produces 5 mini blueberry cheesecake tarts [5 is considered to be the usual
number for a family in Japan]. The consumer just adds milk and mixes it, then
pours the liquid mix into the tarts. The filled tarts are placed in the refrigerator
to chill. This mix contains tangy fruity blueberries in a cream cheese with
a rich flavor and smooth mouthfeel. The tarts are made of crunchy cookies. 38
g ¥400. Snow Brand estimates that the market for retail premixes with added
sugar and dessert mixes is worth ¥23 billion. Of this 40% is pancake mixes

Sonton Food Ind: Sonton Pomegranate Jam. A new addition to Sonton’s series
of healthy jams (this makes two in total). Pomegranate is a source of potassium,

a functional ingredient because it is said to mimic female hormones and thus
help women avoid the side effects of the menopause. This pomegranate jam has

Mitsukan Group: Topping and Dressing Set. A set of salad dressing and
topping to add to vegetable salads. Three varieties. The set for Cesar Salad

garlic, oil and egg yolk plus a topping of fried garlic and fried onions, 55

S and B Food: S and B Seasoning Spice Mix Hamburg is a new blend of spices
for cooking hamburger steak. It also contains rock salt, breadcrumbs and onions.

a blend of spices, herbs, flour and paprika. Both varieties are 72 g ¥250,

LL Cup Pasta
Toyo Suisan: Maruchan Popular Restaurant. A new series of LL pasta (boiled
pasta in a retort pouch) in a cup. Two varieties – mushroom cream, Japanese
style salmon. The pasta has been produced by Toyo Suisan’s multi-bridge process
in which seven layers of noodle dough are treated with enzymes to produce an
al dente pasta suitable for retort pouch preservation. The mushroom cream variety
contains mushrooms in a creamy white sauce made with butter and wheat flour
plus chicken and black sesame, 250 g (170 g pasta). The Japanese style salmon
has smoked salmon and soy sauce flavor. The sauce is flavored with kombu kelp

Nichirei: Nichirei Diabetic Foods [translation]. A new series of ready
meals designed for diabetes patients. The number of people with diabetes in
Japan is increasing as the proportion of the elderly in the population increases.
Nichirei states that there are 6 million people with diabetes in Japan at present
(others estimate the numbers as high as 14 million). These ready meals are calorie-controlled
at 320 kcal per set. They are retort-packaged and can be stored at room temperature;
they require only heating. There are 16 meal sets including meat and potatoes

Sugarless Gum
Kanebo Foods: Kanebo Xyliwater Gum. Sugar-free, low-calorie gum sweetened
only with xylitol. This gum has a less sweet taste than regular gum and a refreshing
mint flavor. As the gum is chewed, the xylitol in the core of the gum dissolves
and produces a watery mouthfeel. This gum contains minerals found in mineral
