Employees threatened with redundancy at Arnotts Biscuits have voted to postpone industrial action until talks with company management have been held.


If the Burwood, Melbourne, factory closes this September, up to 600 workers could lose their jobs and the 180 casual workers will have no pay entitlements. Employees are due to meet with management on 10 May.


Victorian Treasurer, John Brumby, is negotiating with other biscuit companies meanwhile in a bid to save the company with a buyout. Brumby has already met with Lanes Biscuits and has plans to talk with Snack Foods on 8 May.
