McDonald’s has chosen suburban Sydney as the venue for its first non-US outlet of a new fastfood venture. The new chain, to be called Boston Market, will specialise in home-style chicken and enter the market as a direct competitor to established chain Kentucky Fried Chicken

As a wholly owned subsidiary, Boston Market Corporation already controls 650 restaurants within 28 states in the USA. Guy Russo, managing director of McDonald’s Australia, revealed that the Sydney site would be the first from which Boston Market would springboard its international expansion.

The restaurant will be opened next year.
