A whey-based mouthwash is being tested. Dr Gordon Howard, senior scientist at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital, commented on the mouthwash: “It’s now being applied clinically and in fact in one instance is being used in a clinical trial for the treatment of oral mucositis, which is a side effect of chemotherapy.”
