Mark Leibler, a director of Australian grocer Coles Myer, said the board would be “insane” to dismiss fellow director Solomon Lew.

Leibler appears to be in a minority, however. Eight of the retailer’s ten directors have told the company’s 580,000 shareholders that they will vote to oust Lew at the annual general meeting, reported the Courier-Mail.

Leibler told an Australian TV interviewer that Lew’s retailing qualifications were far better than those of any other directors, and that the company had gone from strength to strength while he was serving as chairman.
