S’OK Real Potato Chip Company of Australia is claiming that it has managed to produce potato crisps that contain only 3% fat.

It took the company more than a year, and A$4m (US$2.2m), to perfect the baking technique that enabled the nearly fat-free crisp to be created.

The company is aiming to produce healthier options, as it believes that is where the future of the snacks market lies.

But the Dieticians Association of Australia responded by stressing that lower-fat snacks should not be used as an excuse to eat more than usual, reported Herald-Sun.
