Australian fruit and vegetable processor SPC Ardmona has been forced to abandon plans to export its products to the UK, after the current year’s crop of processing tomatoes was hit by the drought.

Yields are down 15% on average, as the crop has also been hit by disease, pests and dust storms, reported ABC Rural News.

Managing director Nigel Garrard said the priority was now to meet local demand, rather than focusing on exports.
