Australian scientists have found that a grapeseed extract – which also acts as a natural antioxidant and a functional food ingredient – can benefit heart health when incorporated in everyday foods.

The country’s leading scientific establishment, CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), announced that Vinlife™, developed by Tarac Technologies in South Australia, can improve the ability of the arteries to expand in response to a need for greater blood flow.

The antioxidant is designed for use in a wide range of foods from breakfast cereals to cracker biscuits and even fruit juices, but for this successful trial was incorporated into yoghurt over a four-week period.
