Australian consumers have been warned to avoid miracle cures marketed by the Infinity cult; the “healing” 50ml elixirs, which sell for about A$80 each, have been exposed as nothing more than tap water.
The organisation has already been branded an unfair trader by the New South Wales government, and now the Victorian government has confirmed that it has been alerted about the health sect.
Infinity sells about 270 different bottles of tap water over its Internet site, including Hallucinogenic Elixir, Fiery Exorcism of Death and Popeye’s Spinach, and claims to cure everything from drug dependence to weak hearts.
John Watkins, NSW fair trading minister, said: “It’s a mean con trick aimed at the most vulnerable people in our society [such as] people with severe drug addictions, mental illness or with potentially fatal diseases.”
