Latest figures show that more than half of Australia’s dairy farmers have signed up nationally for membership of Dairy Australia, the organisation claims.

Nationally, membership of the industry service organisation is reported to have reached 53.62%. This figure represents 5,693 dairy enterprises and incorporates 11,111 members.

Moreover, in each state, more than half the eligible members have signed up in the eight months since Dairy Australia was incorporated. Farmers in Western Australia and Queensland have apparently been the most ready to sign up, with membership tallies of 65.82% and 63.83% respectively.

South Australia has recorded 57.46% membership, New South Wales 57.58%, Tasmania 52.56% and Victoria 50.84%.

Dairy Australia research is funded by a farmer levy and matching Federal Government funding.
