Australian dairy company National Foods has said it is on track to achieve double-digit full-year profit growth and added that it is considering expanding beyond its core dairy business.

National Foods chairman Barry Capp said the company is currently trading strongly and that all the indications are that it will achieve its double-digit profit growth forecast for the year to 30 June 2004, reported Reuters.

Chief executive Peter Margin said the company was considering acquisitions outside the dairy sector.

“You can’t sit there staring at the headlights forever and we are at the point now where we are going to explore some of the food categories beyond dairy,” he was quoted by Reuters as saying.
