Knispel Bros are facing compensation claims worth between A$2,000 and A$4,000 following an outbreak of salmonella amongst 450 people who had consumed the company’s Nippy’s juices.

South Australia’s first class action arrangement on behalf of the plaintiffs was ratified yesterday (22 March ) by the Federal Court of Australia. The compensation for the food poisoning will be determined on a case-by-case basis and it is thought that those who suffered worse can expect to receive damages worth as much as A$100,000.

The case should be finalised by the middle of this year.
