Woolworths chief executive Roger Corbett has said the Australian retailer will open up to 25 new supermarkets in the next 12 months.

Corbett said the company plans to open between 15 and 25 new supermarkets and between six and eight Big W discount stores.
“We’ve actually got a modus operandi where we look at every village, hamlet and suburb right across Australia.
“When we make predictions about store numbers we do so having done our homework,” Corbett was quoted by the Australian Associated Press as saying.
