Basic American Foods said that it is eyeing a "new era of growth" as it announced the appointment of Bryan Reese as president and CEO.

Reese joins the US group from poultry processor Foster Farms, where he serves as SVP of sales, marketing and R&D. He will take his position at Basic American Foods on 9 November.

"I am extremely pleased that Bryan is joining our company. He has the skills, experience, and vision to lead our company into a new era of growth, while building on the successes of our past," said George Hume, chairman of Basic American Foods.

Reese's career also includes a stint as chief marketing and innovation officer at US chilled food business Bolthouse Farms, now owned by Campbell Soup Co.

"Bryan is an extraordinary leader with a track record of generating profitable growth in the food industry," said Hume. "He has extensive knowledge of the consumer packaged goods, foodservice, and ingredient segments where our company competes."
