Belgium-based retailer Colruyt has split the operational management of the company, appointing Frans Colruyt as COO of retail.
From 1 September, Frans Colruyt, previously managing director of Retail Partners, will manage all retail activities of the group. This includes the Colruyt, OKay, BioPlanet and Retail Partners banners.
Jef Colruyt, who previously oversaw both the retail and services operations himself, will now focus solely on services, the company said today (8 May). He will remain chairman of the board of directors and CEO, but will now only focus on the supporting services of Colruyt including finance, human resources, business processes and systems, technics and real estate.
Colruyt said the decision to split up the operational management of the group from 1 September “will not influence the operation of the board of directors” of which Jef Colruyt remains the chairman.
Frans Colruyt will start to prepare for his new task from mid-May following a 15-month sabbatical, the firm said.
“By supporting and leading the company together, Jef and Frans Colruyt will ensure the further growth of Colruyt Group in the years to come,” the company added.
