Belgium-based retailer Colruyt has thanked its “lowest-price policy” after posting rising full-year sales and earnings.
The company booked an 8.1% rise in operating profit to EUR401.6m (US$625.2m) for the 12 months to 31 March. Revenue climbed 8.9% to EUR5.7bn.
Colruyt said the results came despite increased “inflationary strains” and pressure on margins.
The company, which runs over 300 stores in Belgium and France, said sales at its namesake stores rose 7.4% on the year to EUR3.8bn.
Sales at Colruyt’s Okay and Bio-Planet outlets jumped 27.6% to EUR243.6m.
