Reports today (20 October) have suggested the groups local Greek business Alfa-Beta had plans to make a move into the two Balkan countries, opening under the name Lion Food Stores.

A spokesperson for Delhaize told just-food: “It would certainly make sense to look at that territory but we have no concrete plans at the moment. Earlier this year, the Belgian company expanded its operations in Romania with the acquisition of local supermarket chain La Fourmi.
