Belgian retail giant The Delhaize Group posted a turnover of €21.4bn (US$19.08bn) for last year, a figure up 17.8% on the results for 2000.


Meanwhile, its global divisions reported similar increases. The Asian arm of the company saw its turnover in 2001 increase by 18.9% year-on-year, to reach €184.7m and Delhaize America posted a 2001 turnover of €16.6bn, up 17.7% year-on-year.


Belgian newspaper L’Echonet reported that while Delhaize Belgium recorded a 7.7% increase in 2001 turnover of €3.2bn, divisions across the rest of Europe accounted for a total of €1.1bn of the entire company’s turnover in 2001.
