Brazilian food group Perdigao has won EU clearance for its merger with local meat processor Sadia.

Perdigao said yesterday (1 July) that the European Commission had given its approval to the deal, which was announced in May.
Brazil’s competition watchdog still needs to give its verdict on the transaction, which will create a company called Brasil Foods, the world’s largest poultry company.
