
Indian food group Britannia Industries is to set up a bakery and dairy products plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The site, in which the company will be investing US$19m, is scheduled to start operations by December 2016.
Located in Chittoor district, the plant is being established to expand Britannia's presence in southern cities like Bengaluru and Chennai.
The site will be the company’s eighth plant in the country. It also operates plants in West Bengal, Delhi, Odisha, Uttaranchal, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Gujarat.
Varun Berry, managing director of Britannia Industries, said 75% of the company’s business comes from biscuits while the remainder comes from cakes, dairy and rusk.
