US turkey processor Butterball has acquired a second plant in North Carolina to increase capacity.
The company said in a statement, the “strategically located” plant will help it continue to meet growing consumer demand for a variety of Butterball turkey products.
“We are extremely excited to expand Butterball’s further processing operations in Raeford, and for the opportunity to further strengthen our ties with the community,” noted Kerry Doughty, Butterball president and CEO.
Doughty said over the next year the company anticipates investing nearly $30m in improvements for the facility and enhancing its production capacity to 200m pounds annually.
The acquisition will see the creation of more than 200 jobs initially.
