Canada Bread has launched five “European-style” rye breads under its Dempster’s brand in its domestic market.
The company, in which Maple Leaf Foods owns a 90% stake, has introduced the products into grocery stores in the province of Ontario.
The range – Mild Light, Fruit & Berry, Golden Grains, Country Caraway and Harvest Pumpernickel – will suit “foodies to families”, Canada Bread said today (25 October). The suggested retail price for the breads is C$2.99 (US$2.93).
“Dempster’s is modernising traditional rye bread by launching five delicious rye varieties. Fans of rye bread will have more flavour choices and newcomers will be introduced to tasty, versatile breads ideal for sandwiches and as an ingredient in recipes,” said John Placko, director of culinary excellence at Maple Leaf Foods.
