Montreal-based Saputo is acquiring Boulangerie Rondeau and Biscuits Rondeau, manufacturers of fresh cookies and tarts.

The Rondeau brands have estimated annual revenues of CND14m (US$12.32m), with some 150 employees in two facilities.
The transaction, whose price details would not be released, will be completed later this month, and will provide a boost to Saputo’s bakery division, which is Canada’s biggest seller of snack cakes, after the acquisition of Culinar bakeries in 1999. Division sales grew to CND158.8m in 2005 last year.
The company also intends to expand its line of fresh food.
