United Natural Foods has completed its C$68m (US$66m) acquisition of SunOpta’s Canadian food distribution assets.
With the completion of the transaction, the acquired SunOpta unit is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of UNFI, operating as UNFI Canada.
SunOpta’s distribution division generated US$237.3m in revenues last year. The Canadian unit set to be offloaded turned over US$169.6m in 2009.
Under the deal, SunOpta will keep the division’s natural health products distribution and manufacturing assets.
The deal was originally announced in May.
