Russian meat group Cherkizovo has acquired a pork processing facility in Lipetsk to boost production.

In a statement, Cherkizovo said the transaction was valued at RUB250m (US$4.3m).

The site, in the Izmalkovsky district, 390 kilometres south of Moscow, will enable Cherkizovo to expand its pork production capacity to 52,000 head or 6,000 tonnes of pork in live weight per year. It comprises breeding facilities, a rearing facility and fattening facilities.

"The purchase of the new module will help promote future growth of the company’s business in Lipetsk Region and ensure synergy with its other assets in the region," Cherkizovo added.
