China’s State Council has set up a food safety commission after a new wave of melamine-contaminated dairy products have emerged, state media have reported.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the commission consists of vice premiers Li Keqiang, Hui Liangyu and Wang Qishan, as well as more than ten heads or vice heads of government departments in charge of health, finance, and agriculture among others.
The State Council’s announcement followed the discovery of a number of melamine contaminated milk products in Shanghai, Liaoning, Shandong, and Shaanxi Provinces.
