French retail giant Carrefour is to go deep into western China with its latest store, to be located in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang.

The 15,000 sq m supermarket is due to open this December.
Carrefour has now opened 39 supermarkets in 21 Chinese cities, eight of which are in cities in the underdeveloped western regions.
