China Marine Food Group has developed four seafood-based snack foods designed to enter two major cities in the Sichuan area, Chengdu and Chongqing.

The seafood-based snack maker used market studies and consumer taste-testing to develop the four new products packaged under the company’s Mingxiang brand.

These include: spicy sliced octopus, spicy squid head, spicy baby squid and spicy sliced squid.

Each product uses local spices and peppers consistent to the flavour profiles of foods and consumer preferences in the Sichuan area, the company said.

“At the core of penetrating new markets is the development of products to meet consumer demands and taste preferences. As was the case when entering the Shanghai market last year, a sweeter product was developed to meet consumer preferences,” said Pengfei Liu, chairman and CEO of China Marine.

“The Sichuan area demanded a similar consideration to spice our snack foods. In addition to Sichuan, our launch of these new items also has potential in our existing six-province distribution network.”

Pending continued sales efforts in our target markets of Chengdu and Chongqing, we are confident that we will be able to add new distribution in the area.”
