The Chinese National Space Administration has said that it will launch a satellite in September with the aim of working towards the development of “space-enhanced” fruit and veg.

The satellite will embark on a two-week-long mission that will expose seeds to radiation from space. The rocket will then fall back to earth an scientists will examine the seeds.
The aim, the Space Administration said, is to develop high-yield high-quality plants. Nine different kinds of seed will be blasting off.
China had previously found that rice and wheat exposed to conditions in space produced more, while tomato and green pepper seeds sent into space have produced yields between 10% and 20% higher.
