Sugar prices in China are predicted to fall below 2,400 yuan (US$290) per ton by next month, with a further decline forecast for the next two to three years, according to an industry observer.

The sugar industry observer told the Business Daily Update that the whole Chinese sugar industry lacks competitiveness, while the country’s sugar factories do not use their resources to their full capacity and have difficulty tackling the problem of pollution.
