China has opened its doors to Mexican pork, approving six processors to ship their product over in the first half of 2015.

According to IFIP, Mexico's pork research and development body, four plants are located in the northern state of Sonora: Frigorífico Kowi; Sonora Agropecuaria and two subsidiaries belonging to Norson Group.

The two remaining companies are Grupo Grisi, located in Tamuin in the state of San Luis Potosí and SuKarne Agroindustrial, located in Vista Hermosa in the city of Puente de Ixtla

In 2014, Mexico exported 90,000 tons of chilled fresh and frozen meat, including 74,000 to Japan. The two other main destinations are the US and South Korea.
