Shanghai Lianhua Convenience Store company (one of Shanghai’s major retailers) plans to open Lianhua Quik & C-Stores in all 400 petrol stations SINOPEC Shanghai stations this summer.

This is a long awaited move to start to capitalise on the prime locations around the city that SINOPEC has. The aim is then to do the same at all SINOPEC stations across northeast China and other regions.

This is the latest shot in the petrol stations war in China as the major oil companies fight for sites and customers. SINOPEC is looking to turn what, at the moment, are simply pump-&-go outlets into value-added services that can attract consumers and retain repeat business.
