PepsiCo has announced plans to open its sixth manufacturing plant in China, in a bid to drive its growth in the market.

The facility in the province of Wuhan has the capacity to produce 15,000 tonnes of Lay’s branded potato chips annually. Lay’s is already the top selling chip brand in China, PepsiCo said.

Through the opening of the plant, PepsiCo hopes to expand its reach further into central and western China and will increase the company’s penetration of the geographically diverse Chinese market.
