Authorities from Cheju Island in South Korea have discovered that some Chinese exporters are disguising Chinese pork destined for the Philippines as produce of Cheju Island.
According to Cheju Island officials, export documents have been forged and Cheju-sounding brand names made up by exporters wanting to cash in on the popularity of Cheju Island pork in the Philippines.
They suspect that some Chinese exporters have been working with importers in the Philippines to carry out the scam, reported the Korea Times.
Chinese pork has been banned from international trade due to the presence of foot and mouth disease there.
