US food group Conagra Brands has linked up with the Tex-Mex food chain Taco Bell to launch a line of sunflower seeds.

The Chicago-based company, under its Bigs Sunflower Seeds subsidiary, will be launching Bigs Taco Bell Taco Supreme Seeds in the first half of next year. The product is said to “combine Bigs’ fire-roasted, USA-grown sunflower seeds with the spicy taco flavor and signature crunch associated with {the} nation’s leading Mexican-inspired quick service restaurant”.

Conagra added the Bigs brand to its portfolio with the acquisition of US business Thanasi Foods in March. It produces meat- and seed-based snacks under the Duke’s and Bigs brands.

The new seeds product will be available in 2.75 and 5.35-ounce sizes, with an RRP of US$1.09 and $1.99, respectively.

In September, Conagra announced the acquisition of fellow US firm Angie’s Artisan Treats, the maker of the Angie’s Boomchickapop popcorn brand.

Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands.
