Conagra Brands has launched a range of meals in the US under its Marie Callender’s brand containing “lean proteins” like chicken and turkey to meet consumer demand.
Casey Richards, the brand director for Marie Callender’s, said the Delights dinners “deliver a flavourful twist on comfort food favorites, featuring smart ingredient swaps like lean turkey for beef to meet evolving consumer preferences”.
The six-strong range includes baked turkey meatballs in a crushed tomato basil sauce and balsamic glazed chicken with harvest vegetables.
The new meals are available at “grocery stores nationwide” for a suggested retail price of US$3.69, Conagra said.
Last month, Conagra announced plans to invest again at a frozen foods plant in Russellville in Arkansas to up its capacity.
Conagra is set to publish the financial results for the first quarter of its new financial year later this month. In June, the company forecast its net sales – on a reported and underlying basis – would be at best flat in its new financial year but maintained its three-year targets for organic sales and adjusted margins.
