An extra class has opened at the slaughter training center in Roskilde, Denmark, at the behest of meat processor Danish Crown.

For the last few years, the Ministry of Food has not carried out a nationwide analysis to assess the need for trained slaughterman and abattoir supervisors. An internal survey conducted by Danish Crown however has identified an acute need for new abattoir workers and vets, a need that the company expects to increase as meat production grows.

The extra class will start this autumn and will continue until the needs are covered.
